Definition
词曲 (cí qū) is a collective term for two major forms of classical Chinese poetry: 词 (cí, lyric poetry originally set to music) and 曲 (qǔ, a freer poetic form that flourished in the Yuan dynasty). The term is used in literary studies, historical discussions, and when referring to the genre as a whole, not to individual poems.
