Definition
评理 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to reason with someone' or 'to have things out' by appealing to a sense of right and wrong. The verb 评 and the object 理 can split when you insert a measure word, modifier, or aspect marker — for example 评个理 ('have a little reasoning') or 评了半天理 ('reasoned for a long time'). You typically use it with 跟 (gēn) to indicate who you're reasoning with: 跟他评理 ('reason with him').
