Definition
记挂 expresses a deep, persistent concern or longing for someone you care about, especially when they are far away or you haven't seen them in a while. It is stronger and more emotionally charged than 想 or 思念, and is common in spoken Chinese, particularly in southern dialects. You use it when you can't stop thinking about someone because you worry about them or miss them.
