见 (jiàn) means 'to see' or 'to meet' someone, often with a purpose like meeting a teacher or having an interview. It's different from 看 (kàn), which means 'to look at' or 'to watch' something, and from 看见 (kàn jiàn), which means 'to catch sight of' or 'to see' something by chance.
