Definition
见面 (jiàn miàn) is a separable verb meaning 'to meet (in person)' — it always refers to a planned or intentional meeting, never an accidental one. Unlike 见 (jiàn), which can take a direct object ('see someone'), 见面 requires 跟/和 before the person (e.g. 跟他见面). For chance encounters, use 遇到, 遇见, or 碰见.
