Definition
补习 (bǔ xí) means to take extra classes outside regular school to improve in a subject, often with a tutor or at a cram school. It differs from 补课 (bǔ kè), which is making up a specific missed lesson, and from 突击 (tū jī), which means cramming intensively in a short period before a test.
