Definition
血丝 refers to tiny red lines caused by dilated capillaries, most commonly seen in the whites of the eyes when you're tired, sick, or irritated. You can also use it for faint red streaks on the skin. The English gloss 'a trace of blood' is misleading — 血丝 is specifically about visible, thread-like red lines, not about a general small amount of blood. It's often used with 布满 (bù mǎn, 'covered with') or 一丝 (yì sī, 'a tiny streak').
