Definition
蜚 (fēi) is a bound form (b.f.) that appears almost exclusively in two contexts: in the name of a type of insect — 蜚蠊 (fēilián, 'cockroach') — and in the literary verb 蜚声 (fēishēng, 'to become famous / to be renowned'). It is not used as a standalone word; you'll only encounter it inside these compounds. The insect sense comes from its original meaning 'flying insect' (related to 飞).
