Definition
虚空 is a stative verb (s.v.) that describes something as empty, void, or lacking substance. In Buddhist philosophy, it refers to the concept of emptiness (śūnyatā) — the idea that all phenomena are empty of inherent existence. It can also describe something as unreal or illusory in a more general sense. Be careful not to confuse it with the noun 虚空 meaning 'outer space' or 'the void' (a separate usage not covered by this POS).
