Definition
落幕 is a separable verb (离合词) that literally means 'the curtain falls' (as in a theater). Its most common use is figurative: to describe an event, activity, or period coming to an end. When you split it, the measure word or time goes between 落 and 幕, e.g., 落了幕 ('the curtain fell') or 落过一次幕 ('the curtain fell once'). The complement 落下 can also be used as a resultative verb alone.
