获奖 means 'to win an award' in competitions, ceremonies, or recognition contexts. It differs from 中奖 (zhòng jiǎng, winning a lottery/raffle prize) and is more general than 荣获 (róng huò, which is formal and emphasizes being honored). Note that 获奖 is a separable verb: you can say 获了一个奖.
