范式 is a formal, academic term meaning 'paradigm' or 'model' — a framework of thinking or a standard pattern within a field. It's most common in philosophy of science (库恩的范式理论 'Kuhn's paradigm theory'), linguistics, and social sciences. The second sense 'normal form' is a specialized database normalization term; you'll rarely encounter it outside computer science. This word is not used in everyday conversation.
