Definition
花钱 means 'to spend money' and is a separable verb (离合词): the verb 花 and the noun 钱 can split when a measure, duration, or result is inserted — for example, 花了很多钱 ('spent a lot of money') or 花钱的方式 ('the way of spending money'). The person spending can be placed before 花, and the thing spent on usually follows 钱 with a verb like 买 or 在. Be careful not to put the thing bought directly after 花钱; instead say 花钱买... or 花钱在...上.
