自诩 is a formal, often literary verb meaning 'to boast or brag about oneself'. It carries a slightly negative or ironic tone — you use it when someone claims a quality or title that may not be justified. Unlike the more colloquial 吹牛 (chuīniú, 'to brag'), 自诩 appears in written Chinese and serious speech, often followed by a noun phrase like 自诩为专家 ('to call oneself an expert').
