Definition
自找 means to bring trouble or a negative consequence upon yourself through your own actions. The literal meaning is 'to seek for oneself', but in practice it's almost always used with a negative outcome (麻烦 'trouble', 苦 'hardship', or as a standalone adjective 自找的 'asked for it'). You'll see it in fixed phrases like 自找麻烦 and 自找苦吃, or as the predicate 是自找的 to say that someone has only themselves to blame.
