Definition
自发 (zìfā) describes actions that arise naturally from inner impulse, without external planning or prompting — 'spontaneous'. It differs from 自动 (zìdòng, 'automatic'), which implies mechanical or programmed action, and from 主动 (zhǔdòng, 'proactive'), which emphasizes deliberate initiative by a person.
