能力 (nénglì) is the general word for 'ability, capability' — the capacity to do something. It is broader than 技能 (jìnéng, 'skill'), which refers to a learned technique, and 才能 (cáinéng, 'talent'), which implies innate gift. Use 能力 for overall capability in work, study, etc.
