Definition
肥胖 is a formal or medical term for 'obese, excessively overweight', stronger and more clinical than the everyday word 胖 (fat, plump). Unlike 肥, which describes fat animals/meat or loose clothing, 肥胖 refers specifically to human obesity as a health condition; 丰满 (plump, well-developed) and 胖乎乎 (chubby, endearing) are more positive or affectionate terms.
