股份 (gǔ fèn) refers to shares as units of ownership in a company—the actual stake or equity. It differs from 股票 (gǔ piào), which is the certificate or tradable security representing those shares; and from 份额 (fèn é), a more general term for a share or portion of anything (e.g., market share).
