绽开 is a resultative verb compound: 绽 (burst) + 开 (open). It means something naturally splits open or blossoms — most often used for flowers blooming or buds opening, but also for wounds or seams splitting. Unlike 打开 (to open by hand), 绽开 describes a spontaneous or natural opening, often graceful or uncontrollable.
