Definition
结婚 (jié hūn) is the general, gender-neutral verb for 'to get married'. Unlike 嫁 (jià, used for a woman marrying) or 娶 (qǔ, used for a man marrying), 结婚 can be used for either partner. It is a separable verb (离合词): the object 婚 can be separated, e.g. 结了婚 'got married'.
