Definition
结下 is a resultative verb compound formed from 结 (jiē, to tie/knot) and 下 (xià, down/under). It means 'to form' or 'to establish', most commonly used with abstract nouns such as friendships (友谊), relationships (关系), or grudges (仇). The object directly follows the whole compound; 结下 is not a separable verb. Note that the full pronunciation is jiē xià, despite the input pinyin listing only jiē.
