Definition
练武 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to practice martial arts'. The verb 练 and the object 武 can be separated by aspect markers (了, 过), duration, or measure words. For example, you can say 练了三年武 (practiced martial arts for three years) or 练过武 (have practiced martial arts). You cannot put a direct object after 练武; if you want to specify a type, use 练武术 or 练功夫.
