Definition
纨绔子弟 is a classical Chinese idiom referring to a spoiled son of a wealthy or powerful family who wastes his time on pleasure and avoids any real work. Literally 'silk-trousered son' — 纨绔 were expensive silk trousers worn by the rich — the term carries a strong negative judgment of idleness and irresponsibility. It is used today in both literary and spoken Chinese to criticize someone who has every advantage but does nothing productive.
