Definition
累赘 (léi zhui) describes something or someone that is superfluous and burdensome — it's heavier than 多余 (simply 'unnecessary') and more about being a physical or figurative drag. As an adjective it overlaps with 笨重 (heavy and unwieldy) but applies to abstract things like words or tasks; as a noun it means 'a burden' (a person or thing that holds others back), unlike 担子 which is a responsibility you choose to bear.
