粹 (cuì) is a bound morpheme meaning 'pure; unadulterated'. It cannot stand alone as a word; it only appears as a component in compounds such as 纯粹 (chúncuì, pure), 精粹 (jīngcuì, essence), and 国粹 (guócuì, quintessence of Chinese culture). Use it with another morpheme to form words in formal or literary contexts.
