Definition
粉碎 (fěn suì) means to shatter something into powder or to completely destroy (plans, rumors, opposition). It is more thorough than 破碎 (pò suì), which means 'break into pieces', and more intense than the general 打破 (dǎ pò), which means 'break (physically or figuratively)'. 碎 (suì) is a more colloquial word for 'broken into fragments' without the sense of powdering.
