Definition
筋 (jīn) refers to tendons, sinews, and visible veins — the fibrous, non-muscle tissue under the skin. 肌肉 (jīròu) means 'muscle', the flesh that contracts for movement. 筋 also describes tough fibers in meat or vegetables.
