Definition
笔试 (bǐshì) is a written examination, as opposed to an oral or practical test. Unlike the general word 考试 which can refer to any exam, 笔试 specifically means a paper-based test where you write answers. It contrasts with 面试 (miànshì), which is a face-to-face spoken interview.
