Definition
称职 (chènzhí) is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to be competent for a job' or 'qualified'. You can insert elements between 称 and 职, such as 称不了职 ('cannot be competent'), 称过职 ('has been competent'), or 称不称职 ('whether competent or not'). It is often used with 很 to mean 'very competent'.
