Definition
种田 (correctly pronounced zhòng tián, but input pinyin uses chóng) means 'to farm' or 'to till the land'. It is a verb-object compound (离合词), meaning the two characters can split when adding aspect markers, duration, or measure words: 种了三年田 ('farmed for three years'), 种过田 ('have farmed before'). You cannot place a direct object after 种田; if you need to specify a crop, say 种 + crop + 田.
