离心 (lí xīn) has two main uses: as a verb meaning 'to become estranged or disunited' (in relationships, teams, etc.) and as an attributive element in scientific compounds meaning 'centrifugal' (e.g., 离心力 'centrifugal force', 离心泵 'centrifugal pump'). It is a verb-object compound (离 'leave' + 心 'heart'), so it cannot take a direct object. In linguistics, it also describes exocentric constructions, though that usage is technical.
