Definition
社会 (shèhuì) refers to society as a whole — the broad system of people, institutions, and relationships in a community. It is much broader than 社团 (shètuán, a specific club or association) or 协会 (xiéhuì, a formal organization). 社交 (shèjiāo) is a related but different word meaning 'social interaction', not society itself.
