碰 (pèng) means to touch lightly or bump into, and can also mean to meet someone by chance. Compared to 撞 (zhuàng), which implies a harder, more forceful collision, 碰 suggests lighter contact. For meeting by chance, 遇到 (yù dào) is more general, while 碰见 (pèng jiàn) specifically means to run into someone unexpectedly.
