Definition
确实 (què shí) is an adverb meaning 'indeed, really', used in speech and writing to emphasize that something is true or to confirm a point. It is more formal than the HSK1 adverb 真 (zhēn), which is more casual and can also mean 'truly' in a degree sense (e.g., 真大 'really big'). 确实 is very close to 的确 (dí què, HSK5), but 的确 is slightly stronger and more definitive; in everyday conversation 确实 is more common.
