Definition
破解 (pò jiě) means to crack a password/code/software (often unauthorized) or to solve a puzzle / break a constraint. Unlike 破 (pò), which can also mean physical breaking or solving a case (破案), 破解 is not used for physical breakage. Compared to 解读 (jiě dú, to decipher/interpret), 破解 emphasizes overcoming a barrier, not just interpreting meaning.
