Definition
破相 means 'to have one's face scarred or disfigured', typically from an injury, accident, or violence. It is a separable verb (离合词): the verb 破 and the noun 相 can split, e.g., 破了相 ('got scarred'). The English gloss 'lose face' is misleading in this context – do not confuse it with the idiom for humiliation (丢脸). Use 破相 for physical facial damage only.
