Definition
看破 is a resultative verb that literally means 'to see through'. It has two main uses: one is to see through a deception or hidden truth (看破谎言 'see through lies'), and the other is to be resigned to the inevitable, often in a philosophical or Buddhist sense (看破红尘 'see through the vanity of the world'). It is used as a compound and can take the perfective suffix 了.
