Definition
监护 (jiān hù) is a formal/legal term for 'to act as a guardian' – it refers specifically to the legal responsibility for a minor or incapacitated person. Unlike 守护 (shǒu hù) 'to guard/protect' or 看管 (kān guǎn) 'to look after', 监护 is a legal designation with rights and duties, not just physical care. It is used in court appointments and legal documents.
