Definition
煮 (zhǔ) means to cook food in boiling water (e.g., eggs, dumplings, soup). It differs from 开 (kāi) and 滚 (gǔn), which describe water coming to a boil (水开了, 水滚了), and from 烧 (shāo), which can mean to boil water but also to burn. 沸腾 (fèiténg) is the formal term for liquid boiling.
