Definition
照射 (zhàoshè) is a formal, technical verb for 'to shine on / to irradiate', used for light, rays, or radiation hitting a surface. Unlike 照 (zhào), which is the everyday word for shining a light or taking a photo, 照射 implies a directed, often scientific or intense beam (e.g., laser, UV). 照耀 (zhàoyào) is more poetic and literary, describing a grand or beautiful glow.
