Definition
煞车 is a separable verb (离合词) with two distinct senses: braking a vehicle, and lashing or fastening goods with rope. As a v.o., it can split to insert 了, 过, or measure words between 煞 and 车, e.g. 煞了车 (braked) or 煞过一次车 (braked once). Both senses follow the same separation pattern.
