Definition
This chengyu originates from traditional Chinese alchemy, where the highest stage of refining an elixir was marked by the furnace flame turning a pure green/blue color. Today it describes someone who has achieved an extremely high level of skill or mastery in a craft, art, or profession — the point where technique becomes effortless and flawless. It is used as a predicate or complement, often in the pattern 达到炉火纯青的地步/境界.
