Definition
溃败 describes a complete and often sudden collapse—most commonly used for a military force being routed (彻底溃败), but it also applies to a business or organization falling apart (市场溃败). The medical sense 'to fester' (伤口溃败) is less frequent and usually appears in formal or clinical writing. Unlike 失败 ('to fail'), 溃败 emphasizes total disintegration and loss of control.
