渴望 (kě wàng) expresses a strong, intense longing or thirst for something, often abstract or unattainable (e.g., success, freedom). It is stronger and more passionate than 想念/思念 (missing someone/something) and 盼 (looking forward to an expected event). Unlike the colloquial 巴不得 (can't wait to), 渴望 is more formal and emotional.
