Definition
温带 (wēn dài) is a geographical term meaning 'temperate zone' — the region between the tropics and the polar circles. Unlike 温度 (wēn dù 'temperature'), which measures heat, 温带 refers to a climate belt. It contrasts with 热带 (rè dài 'tropics', hot) and 寒带 (hán dài 'polar zone', cold).
