Definition
涉足 is a literary verb meaning 'to set foot in' or 'to enter' a field, region, or domain. It's a separable verb (离合词): you can insert aspect markers like 过, 了, or measure phrases between 涉 and 足, e.g. 涉过足 ('have dabbled in'), 涉了一次足 ('dabbled once'). It's mostly used in formal or written contexts—don't use it for physically stepping into a room; use 进 or 进入 instead.
