Definition
涉水 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to wade through water' or 'to wade into the water'. When you add a duration, a measure word, or a result, the two syllables can split: you might say 涉了一次水 ('waded in water once') or 涉过水 ('have waded'). The object 水 can also be modified, as in 涉过那条河 ('waded across that river'), but the core pattern is 涉 + 补语/时量 + 水.
