Definition
消气 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to cool down one's anger' or 'to become mollified'. The verb 消 and the object 气 can split when inserting aspect markers (了, 过), complements (不了), or measure words: 消了气 ('cooled down'), 消不了气 ('can't cool down'). You don't put the person after 消气 directly — use 对某人消气 or just say 消气 alone.
