Definition
派 (pài) has three main uses: (1) to send/dispatch/assign someone, especially on a task — more specific than 发 (fā) 'send a message or package'; (2) a faction/group, more general than 党 'political party' or 阵营 'camp'; (3) 'pie' (loanword), distinct from 饼 'pancake, pastry'.
